My Favorite Crunchy, Sweet and Salty Snack!

In the afternoon, I almost always reach for the same snack: whole almonds.

Since I have low blood pressure, I opt for nuts sprinkled with a little sea salt. Almonds are slightly sweet which satisfy my sweet tooth and crunchy to keep me away from the potato chips.

Almonds are the perfect healthy snack.

Sometimes I make a trail mix of whole almonds, dried cranberries and a few chocolate chips. Delicious!

How do you like to snack on almonds?

Note: Today's post is part of the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge. Each day during the month of April I'll highlight a letter of the alphabet with a healthy snack idea. Today is letter "A". Stop back tomorrow for another delicious tip!

  2. I love almonds! I especially like the ones rolled in soy sauce and wasabi. Or tossed in sea salt and vinegar, or coated with lime juice and rolled in chili powder. Mmmm. I think I need to go buy some snacks now.

    1. Hi Loni! I always eye those flavored almonds at the store but haven't ventured into that area yet! I've been noticing the sweet blueberry and cocoa flavored options. YUM! It looks like you enjoy the salty/umami flavors best! ~Angela

  6. Great theme Angela. I should probably give up the chips and replace them for a small amount of almond or some other healthy options. I like almond but never think to eat them as a snack.I know I'm going to learn tons of great things from you this challenge. I'm so excited!!

  7. Ah for a small handful of Almonds. Dr Oz approved! I like 'em raw and roasted.

“The best snack of all,” Dr. Oz says. “Because nuts are high in fiber and protein, they’ll satiate you so you’ll never be hungry. Because of my Turkish culture, I grew up eating almonds that have been soaked in water first. I still do that. It makes them taste completely different—very sweet.”

  8. I haven't bought them on their own (didn't think to), but I've snacked on nuts that included almonds. Delicious.
